Child Nutrition


Region 6 Education Service Center Food and Nutrition Services provides school districts, charter schools, RCCi’s, private non-profit schools as well as Child and Adult Care Food Programs with a comprehensive range of technical assistance services designed to help our clients meet federal, state, and local program requirements under the direction of the Texas Department of Agriculture and the United State Department of Agriculture.

The ESC staff is here to help our clients operate food service programs efficiently, effectively and within the state and federal program regulations. Technical assistance and professional development is offered in but not limited to the following:

  • Program design, implementation, and evaluation
  • Program compliance including assistance with the preparation for Administrative Reviews
  • Sound financial practices
  • Program documentation and reporting
  • Culinary skills in making meals appealing, tasteful, and acceptable according to guidelines

All services in this program are provided free of charged except for course where certifications are offered and a fee is charged for the certification and all program activities are funded by the Texas Department of Agriculture.

To file a program discrimination complaint, a Complainant should complete a Form AD-3027, USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form which can be obtained online at:, from any USDA office, by calling (866) 632-9992, or by writing a letter addressed to USDA. The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
